Japan Karate Association

Japan Karate Association is the world’s most prestigious and immense known karate organization with a large international membership in over 100 countries. Recognized heir to the Shotokan tradition and is the only legal karate entity officially approved by the Japanese government for the promotion of karate. More importantly, the JKA is the preserver of the soul and spirit of the art of kokufu-bunkakarate-do-karate based on the ancient Japanese tradition of Bushido (the way of the samurai).  The JKA mission is to promote the way of karate throughout the world by ensuring it remains true to the philosophical precepts upon which it was founded.

Master Mikami is the chief instructor of LKA and founded the JKAAF organization to provide the highest level of JKA Karate training and is in direct uninterrupted lineage with the Japan Karate Association  while maintaining the organizational structure that best serves its members.  Because of this JKA/AF is directly organized as a national member of the JKA World Federation and is not dependent upon or subordinate to any other karate group, organization or karate entity. Master Mikami dedicated his life to the preservation and promotion of authentic Shotokan Karate-Do and presently is a Senior Technical Advisor to the JKA.

japan karate Association san antonio

JKA San Antonio was founded in the late 1970s by Mr. Velez who began training in the late 1950s with both Mr. Nakayama and Mr. Nishiyama. The Dojo was originally under Mr. Nishiyama’s Organization (ITKF) until Mr. Nishiyama passed away.  After Mr. Nishiyama passed away, JKA San Antonio affiliated with Master Mikami, JKA/AF and JKA.  As part of the JKA lineage, our mission is the same as that of  the JKAAF and JKA.
